October/November 2006

October was a month with a lot of changes. The days are getting shorter and the weather a bit cooler. The trees have started changing color and losing their leaves. We have enjoyed spending time outside to see all of the changes and feeling the cool air. Our theme was farm animals which was great fun for all. We introduced them to the many animals through pictures, books and our animal toys. We also sang songs like “Old McDonald Had a Farm” and read different stories from the library. These books and songs helped the kids learn the sounds that are associated with the animals, what they eat and where they live. We had the pleasure of reinforcing the theme with our trip to Homestead Farms to visit with the animals we have discussed over the last month.

The kids are doing really well. Sam and Ian are our little circle time boys. They love circle time and the circle time songs. During circle time they love to hold the circle mats and roll them around and play games with them. The whole group loves music and dancing. Kate loves to share toys with others. She is always giving things to others. Ellis has great expression. He says “WOW” and points to everything he sees. Alan continues to be our verbal boy. Speaking to everyone and having many conversations with many words. Jack is always happy. Hugging everyone and has a smile on his face most all of the time. They are so easy to love. They are growing daily and learning everything. Such little sponges! Our newest addition Estrella has been wonderful with the group. She has added lots of great new fun for the kids and has bonded very well with them. We are very fortunate to have her with us.

A reminder to parents to please label EVERYTHING. We have many little socks, hats, and other clothes that the kids come in wearing and have in their extra close bin. Thanks for helping us so we do not have too many mix ups.

August/September 2006

It was an exciting and enthusiastic summer for our sprouts. The children had lots of opportunities to participate in many fun and enjoyable water activities dressed in their fantastic water clothes. The sprouts truly enjoyed splashing and pouring water on each other. While playing outside we also introduced the children to the beauty and immensity  of the sky. We talked about rainbows, stars, and the moon. We taught them songs about these subjects as well. “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” is among the favorites. The children loved having the fairy tales read to them, Goldilocks, The Three Bears and The Three Pigs to name a few. They were truly attentive and interested in these great children’s tales. Overall, the children are doing very well. Ellis and Jack are our new found walkers. They are doing wonderful. Ian just returned from spending the summer at home. It is like he never left! Alan is now the king of the classroom. The big man on campus! Sam loves to take pride in everything he does. It is great to see him clap his hands after every task he completes. And Kate! Our independent little girl who can run with those boys! Kate is our music lover. When the music is on, Kate is dancing! Ok, parents, now with summer is passing and fall approaching lets not forget about changing out our spare clothing from summer to fall. And we are doing a project that involves a family picture. Could you please provide us with some family pictures. Thank you in advance!

June/July 2006

Big, shiny, powerful, and noisy, varied in color shape and size. Vehicles are a constant presence in our children’s daily lives. They see, hear, and smell vehicles everyday and that is why transportation was our theme in June. There was so much to learn and explore when dealing with vehicles and transportation.

Through different activities the children where able to learn about transportation by land, air, and water and all of the exciting emergency transportation. They love to make their sounds and also make them move.

Our sprouts are doing great. Ian and Katherine are both taking steps and will be running around with the rest of the group in no time at all. Jake is our airplane boy. He can identify an airplane when he hears it far far in the distance. Alan likes to climb on all our outside climbers. He wants to get to the highest spot. Sophia is very self-sufficient and likes to play with the babies and be the mommy of the group. Morgan is buddies with Ian, she likes to help him a lot and calls out his name when he is not around. Our new- comer Jack just loves everything about his new room.

Our theme for July is Fairy Tales. We cannot wait to explore more stories with our toddlers. All of the kids really love story time and will thoroughly enjoy July.
