OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2006 NEWS

LITTLE ACORNS ANNUAL THANKSGIVING LUNCHEON

Please join us for our annual Thanksgiving luncheon on Tuesday, November 21st at Noon. It is prepared by all of your little ones here at the center! The office staff make the turkeys and each classroom prepares a dish (or two or three). Kids butter rolls, mash potatoes, and make pies, among other delicious items. Lunch is served to children, families and staff all together in the social hall of the Potomac Community Center. This is a great occasion for parents, grandparents, family and friends; all are invited. We like to host some of our community helpers as well, such as the great staff of the community center that let us use their facility on rainy days. It is great fun and the children take great pride in preparing lunch for their parents. Please make a note of the date and plan to join us.

LITTLE ACORNS FOOD DRIVE

Please help us in teaching your children the benefits of helping others. We will be having a food drive for the next couple of weeks followed by a toy drive. The food should be non-perishables and the toys should be new and unwrapped. We will be taking these items to Stepping Stones Shelter. This is a shelter for women and children. We thank you in advance for your generosity.

PLEASE CLOSE OUR FRONT DOOR

Parents, please close our centers front door when you enter and exit into our suite. The only times we have this door propped open is if we are unloading groceries. Many times the door gets propped open by accident and if you see this, please pull it shut. Thank you for your help in keeping our center a safe environment for our children.

IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN

The cold is quickly approaching and we do go outside. We do not get sick from the cold we get sick from germs. We will continue to go outside throughout the winter. We do not go outside if the temperature adjusted for wind chill is below 25 degrees. So please, dress your children appropriately for outdoor play, coats, hats, mittens and gloves. And please label everything with their names on them. Thank you.
