October/November 2006

Oak Trees have had a great start to the school year. I would like to thank you for all of your participation in parent night it helped make it a huge success.

October was filled with many different weather patterns. This fit in well with our theme as we talked a lot about the fall season. The kids have been very excited about dressing “Dude” daily according to the weather. We also went on nature hikes to collect signs of the season. The leaves we collected were different colors and shapes. We compared the colors and discussed the changing colors. The kids all discussed and then wrote about their favorite season. They have truly enjoyed working with all the seasonal activities.  We have been working hard on our portfolios with items that will help show progress throughout the year. Please remember that you may not be seeing as much of your child’s work come home as you may be use to from previous years. Your child’s portfolio is a collection of work throughout the year so we may compare from September to January to June. Please feel free to view your child’s portfolio at anytime.

August/September 2006

August has been a very colorful month for our Oak Trees. We spoke a lot about Rainbows as many of you saw the beautiful projects come home that they worked so hard on. We had a lot of fun experimenting with all our colors with skittle rainbows, fruit loop necklaces and rain sticks. August has definitely kept us busy.

Oak Trees would like to invite you to stop by and take a look at all the new equipment we have received over the course of the past weeks. Oak Trees are loving all the great things we have gotten to help us learn and of course to have lots of fun while doing it. Just to name a few items we have received: legos, play people, new books, dramatic play equipment, puzzles, arts and crafts, a new table and chairs and lots more so come take a look around the room with your child. They would love to point out their new favorite items to you. Along with having so much fun we have been preparing for our upcoming school year. We are all eager to have our students back from a fun filled summer. Oak Trees theme for September will be “Me and My Family.” They will be learning all about themselves, what makes them special and who they are, along with learning more about their families. Thanks parents for a great summer!

June/July 2006

Oak Trees have come to the end of a great school year. We have had many great adventures and learned so much to help us learn and grow. We finished the year with a wonderful graduation and have said goodbye to many of our graduates who will move on to kindergarten in the fall.

Our annual campout was a hit. The children had an exciting day outside. We read stories, had a scavenger hunt, made a sand art project, but the best part of all was roasting marshmallows to make yummy s’mores. If you ask your Oak Trees I think they will agree with me. They are great with their cooking skills.

We are sad to see the end of the school year because each child has brought so much to the classroom, which cannot be replaced. They will all be missed, but we know they are taking an exciting step in life. They will do great! Thanks to all that helped us to have a wonderful school year.

For the Oak Trees who remain we will have a great summer of fun with all that is in store.
